20 ways to increase laptop battery life

Mobile computing has got better with lighter components, better chips and faster processors. But the Achilles heel of a laptop has remained its battery. So here are we are going to look at ways to increase laptop battery life.
Modern graphic intensive operating systems and resource hungry applications are cutting down the life of your laptop’s battery every day. The average battery life per continuous use still stands at a maximum of three to four hours. So, a fast depleting battery could very swiftly put the crutches on your ‘mobile’ road trip.
Falling just short of carrying an extra pack of batteries in the back-pack, are several ways to keep the juice flowing through the batteries.

1. Ship shape with a defrag

Regular defragmentation helps to arrange data more efficiently thus making the hard drive work less to access the data. The quicker the moving hard drive works lesser is the load placed on the battery. Thus, your batter can last longer. The effect is minimal, but this efficiency goes hand in glove with hard drive maintenance.

2. Kill the resource gobblers

End the background processes that are not vital. Monitor the resource usage through a ‘Ctrl-Alt-Del’ which brings up the Windows Task Manager (in Windows). If you’re not on the internet, it is safe to shut down the immediate non-essential programs running in the taskbar like the antivirus and the firewall. Weed out unnecessary programs running as start-ups by launching the System Configuration Utility from Run – Msconfig – Tab: Startup. Uncheck the programs which you don’t want to launch and reboot the computer once.

3. Pause the scheduled tasks

It may be a defrag or a virus scan, but make sure it is scheduled for a time when you are near a power outlet. If not then nix them for the moment.

4. Unplug external devices

USB devices are the biggest drainers of battery power. Unplug all external devices like an external mouse, PC cards, Wi-Fi, external speakers, Bluetooth and even an attached iPod.

5. Empty the CD/DVD Drives

Even if you don’t intend to use it, don’t leave any CD/DVDs as leftovers in the drives. A spinning drive sucks battery power like a sponge.

6. Go local

Desist using the DVD/external drives while running on batteries. Shift the content to the hard drive or run using (free) virtual drives like Pismo File Mount or even Microsoft’s Virtual CD ROM Control Panel.

7. Lower the lights

The LCD screen of a laptop is another huge power sink. Calibrate the brightness to the lowest level you can tolerate using the Function key toggles or using the Display Settings applet in the Control Panel.

8. Kill the sounds

Mute the speakers and try avoiding the use of multimedia software to maximize the battery life. Installed sound schemes also drain a battery perceptibly.

9. Rid the screensaver

To maximize battery life by a little, switch off the screensaver.

10. Visit Power Options

Get familiar with power management through the ‘Power Options’ applet in the Control Panel. Both XP and Vista come with advanced power management features which shut off components like the monitor and/or the hard drive after specified intervals. This again depends on the chosen ‘Power Schemes’ (for XP) in the same applet. For instance in XP, ‘Max Battery’ under Power Schemes can be selected for maximum battery optimization.

Similar settings can be found under ‘Mobile PC’ in the Control Panel of Vista.

11. Turn off the looks

Today’s OS’s like Windows Vista come with features like ‘Aero Glass’ which are resource guzzlers. One can turn it off and go for the ‘Classic’ appearance which consumes less power. In Vista, click on Desktop – Preferences – View Colour – Appearance – Classic Appearance and Windows Basic graphical interface. In XP it’s – Display Properties – Theme – Windows Classic.
Linux and even Macintosh are better optimized for longer battery life.

12. Hibernate is better than Sleep

In the Stand By mode (or sleep mode), the computer turns of the hard drive and the display but memory remains active while the CPU slows down. This draws on the battery. In contrast, hibernation mode is better because the computer saves the current state and shuts itself down completely thus saving power.

13. Get the most…work on the least

Working on too many programs while on the battery is a sure fire power drainer. Keep use of graphic intensive applications to a minimum. Working on a spreadsheet consumes much less than playing your favourite game. To increase the life of the battery open just one or two programs concurrently.

14. Ram in more RAM

Adequate RAM reduces the load on Virtual memory which by default resides on the hard drive. Though every extra bit of RAM uses up more power, it increases overall savings by short cutting access to the power hungry hard drive.

15. Keep it clean

A laptop with blocked air vents will generate more heat thus reducing the life of the battery. Clean the air vents regularly to keep operating temperatures low. Allow for open space around the vents for air to circulate freely. Keep the area around the laptop clean to avoid entry of dust.

16. Temperature is a silent killer

Undue heat kills off a battery slowly but surely. Avoid leaving the laptop under direct sunlight or inside a closed car.

17. Avoid the memory effect

A problem more for the older Ni-MH batteries than for Li-Ion batteries on which most modern laptops run. Memory effect relates to the loss of battery charge when they are repeatedly recharged after being only partially discharged. It can be prevented by discharging the battery fully and then completely recharging it. Li-Ion batteries on the other hand have no problems with partial discharges and re-charges and complete discharge is never recommended for this type.

18. Update software and drivers

This sounds a bit incongruous but then newer drivers and software are often designed to be more efficient (and hopefully less resource hungry).

19. Use the right adapter

Ensure that the adapter you use to charge the laptop battery is an original one or one with the correct specifications. A mismatch in the wattage could cause an overload thus damaging the laptop and the battery.

20. Pack it up

If you don’t plan to use the laptop on batteries for quite some time, ensure that the charge is nearly 40 percent – remove the batteries and store it in a cool place.
A typical lithium ion battery has an overall average life of 2-3 years. With some care and caution, its mortality can be delayed.

FireFox vs Google chrome which to use?

I've been a huge fan of Firefox for years (prompted in great part by Lifehacker's recommendation), but it seems like Google Chrome has made huge strides lately. My question: Which is better, Chrome or Firefox? Which should I use?

Dear Uncertain,Yours is a question we've been hearing more and more lately, and with good reason. The fact is, Google Chrome has fixed a lot of problems with Firefox that most Firefox users didn't even know they had, and Firefox is still working to catch up. (Restart-free extension installation, isolated processes that keep one bad tab from crashing the entire browser, etc.) As a result, Chrome's smart feature set has been winning over a lot of Firefox die-hards.
The answer to your question depends a lot on what operating system you're using, so we'll separate our answers for Windows and Mac users.
Which Should I Use on Windows: Firefox or Chrome?
There's no short answer to this question, really, since neither browser is clearly better, so instead of a straight out "Use X" recommendation, let's consider the pros and cons of each.
First, in our regular web browser performance tests, Chrome has regularly beaten up the competition or come in a very close second in most categories, while Firefox rarely leads the way. That might seem like a pretty big deal, but most browsers actually perform really well these days, so the fact that Chrome beats Firefox in most of our performance tests doesn't mean Firefox is extremely slow—it just means that compared to Chrome, it's not the fastest.

But that brings us to another important point: Bloat. Despite the fact that Firefox generally does pretty well on memory use tests (strangely enough, it regularly wins that test in our browser performance tests), a lot of Firefox users are increasingly frustrated with slow-downs caused by what they see as browser bloat. It's not at all uncommon to see a Firefox installation eating up more than any running application on your system, and while the memory consumption itself isn't that big of a deal (Chrome eats a lot of memory, too), the high memory usage is often accompanied by serious browser slowdowns, which is a very big problem, and one that, anecdotally, at least, we hear from tons of Firefox users and very few Chrome users. (Presently company included.)
So what keeps Firefox users coming back despite Chrome outperforming it on Windows by most accounts? One of the biggest issues is extensions. Firefox's extension ecosystem has long been a selling point of the popular open-source browser, and if there's anything you wish your browser did differently, chances are there's a Firefox extension to address it.
Chrome has its own flourishing extension gallery, and while it doesn't have close to the extension support that Firefox does, every day more and more really popular extension functionality makes its way to Chrome. Want to sync Chrome up with your existing Firefox bookmarks? You can use Xmarks for that. (Or you can use Chrome's built-in bookmark sync tools if you prefer, though this editor still dearly misses keyword bookmarks in Chrome, despite the workaround.) Want to securely sync and automatically fill your passwords? The LastPass extension, which we recently raved about, can handle that at more. Even the must-have for web developers, Firebug, has made its way to Chrome in a very functional lite version.
If you use a ton of Firefox extensions—especially some more obscure ones—chances are you may not be able to find replacements for everything in Chrome. But if you only use a few of the more popular Firefox extensions, odds are very good that you could transition to Chrome without noticing a difference.
On the other hand, a lot of people shy away from Chrome specifically because of its affiliation with Google. Those who believe Google already has enough of your personal information might prefer to stick with Firefox just to temper the growing piles of information Google has collected about you, anonymously or not.
The Answer:
At the end of the day, both Chrome and Firefox are excellent web browsers for Windows, and you can't go wrong with either. From our perspective, more and more power users seem to be swapping happily to Chrome from Firefox (several Lifehacker editors have made this switch and haven't looked back), and their switch has been spurred mostly by the bloat issues mentioned above. If you've been frustrated with Firefox, we'd recommend kicking the tires and Chrome to see how you like it; you can always switch back if you decide your heart lies with Firefox.
If, on the other hand, you're perfectly happy with Firefox, we don't see any reason to upset a good thing. (If it ain't broke and all that.)
Which Should I Use on My Mac: Firefox or Chrome?
The answer to this question is very different from the one above, but luckily it's much shorter. If you read the Windows section (and you should, because a lot of it still applies), you know that Chrome has a lot of great things going for it. Chrome is snappy on OS X, the same extensions that work for Chrome on Windows work in OS X, it isolates processes so that one crashed tab won't bring down your browser, and so on.
Unfortunately, in our experience, Chrome for OS X is still much too young for full-time adoption. Remember, Chrome for Mac launched quite awhile after the Windows version and has been around much less than a year overall. Like Chrome on Windows, it shows a whole lot of promise, but it's also prone to the occasional non-responsiveness and other bugginess that we aren't used to and probably shouldn't be seeing from a prime-time browser.
While we'd love to say you should give it a try full-time if you're not happy with Firefox on your Mac, we can say from experience that it's probably not ready for you to do that.
We get a little long-winded when we start talking about web browsers, so our apologies for the length of our reply. Hope that helps, though!

If that wasn’t enough, John wrote about prank news story websites, and now I’d like to cover 4 free April Fools prank ideas with small applications you can use to really fool your friends or family members. I’ve tested each of these programs, and as far as I can tell they are perfectly safe and very fun methods to prank your friends this April Fools.
Change Your Voice for a Funny Phone Call
Have you ever considered calling a friend and pretending to be an IRS agent or maybe a long lost relative? Maybe you would like to tell your friend that an unknown uncle died and left them millions? Your friend would easily recognize your voice. So, the best option is to use free voice changing software, and then dial out using your computer and your favorite VoIP application. Never fear! The perfect free voice-changing application is here, and it’s called Screaming Bee MorphVOX Junior.
This software is very fast and easy to set up. It sits between your microphone and any application you use and morphs your voice in whatever way you configure it to. The free version allows you to use an alternative male or female voice, or for a funny alternative, you can raise the level of your voice to sound like a tiny person! Another fun feature is the fact that you can click and insert sound effects into the call, such as a cuckoo clock, a drum roll (like after telling a joke), an alarm clock or a screeching sound.
Strange Windows Errors
If you share a computer with a friend or with family members, and you really want to play a funny joke on other people who use the computer often, you can install the little Dr. Windows app offered by DonationCoder. This application gets installed into the apps menu, and appears as just a small antivirus application called “Dr. Windows.” In reality, it’s counting down the minutes to when it delivers one of the strange error messages that you’ve set up.
Once you install the application, it appears in the system tray as a very small anti-virus application. Any user who isn’t very tech savvy should completely ignore it. When you first install it, right click on the icon and click on Options.
Make sure to enable “Hide Options” so that when the user right clicks on the icon, nothing will happen. The only way to enter settings is to hold down the Ctrl key while right-clicking. The software comes with about 50 random Windows error messages that pup up either when you trigger them with the hotkey combination, or at a set interval that you enter.
The messages are fairly random and all pretty funny. If you have anyone using the computer who is just completely non tech-savvy at all, these will really throw them for a loop. Just sit back and watch them panic and pull out their hair in frustration…just try not to snicker too loudly!
Install a Small Fake Virus
We certainly spend a lot of time here at MakeUseOf focused on helping people avoid or get rid of viruses, adware and spyware on their computer. However, in the spirit of April 1st, I’d like to propose a safe and very funny application called Lappet. Lappet is a completely safe and very funny fake computer virus that will inflict terror into the heart of just about any computer user who doesn’t know any better.
The reason I write that it would scare anyone who doesn’t know any better is because most of the savvy MUO readers would instantly recognize the progress bar as a very non-standard Windows app (what’s up with that horrid green color). But I’m sure many of you know someone who would completely fall for it.
Once the hard drive is “erased,” Windows crashes. Mind you – the app takes a screenshot and uses it as the background so that it appears the entire computer froze. The user may try clicking around, but almost nothing will work (there is the secret of simply pressing the “up” key to escape though).
Finally, the very last window reveals the truth – that the entire episode was just a funny gag. The application doesn’t require any kind of install, it’s just an executable, so you can deliver it to your friend in whatever format works best – an email, a download from your website or blog or anything else that gets them to run it.
Install a Very Scary Fake Computer Virus
Another great computer prank you can use on your friends this April 1st is a full scale computer virus, packaged up as a promotion for real antivirus software. It’s actually a somewhat realistic fake virus called Ultimate, which first asks if you really want to delete the Windows folder (it doesn’t matter what the user clicks, or whether they even click anything at all!)
Before you know it, the next screen comes up that shows sections of Windows Explorer literally getting “deleted” and turning into black space. To the savvy user, this animation looks a little bit cheesy. But to the standard or amateur user, it could come across as convincing enough.
Finally, once all contents of the Windows folder are deleted, the entire screen goes completely blank and stays that way, just long enough for the user’s heart to stop beating for a few moments. Then, very slowly, the following message prints across the screen.
After a few more keystrokes, the application closes and the user returns to their normal screen. This is also delivered in the form of a simple executable. If you can’t get your friends or family to run it from an email, you can always install it in the Startup folder on the computer of an unsuspecting friend of family member.

2 finger window scroll guide........

“Wow! How did you do that?”, my friend asked me with amazement, when he looked at how I scroll up and down the webpage using my two fingers. “Can my laptop do that?” he asked. He was a bit disappointed when I explained that as far as I know, the feature is Mac-specific because Apple owns the patent to that multi-touch technology.
But my friend’s question made me think. Is it really Mac specific? So I did some searching and found an unexpected answer. It turns out that some of the latest non-Mac laptops have similar features built in, and as for the older ones – as long as they use a Synaptic touchpad, you can easily add two finger scrolling using a little help from a little application called, well, Two-Finger-Scroll.
Using the Two Finger Scroll
The latest version of this tiny little app – version 1.0.6 – can be downloaded in the blink of an eye because its size is only around 290KB.

The Two Finger Scroll app could work out of the box without the need to install it. But before running it, you would want to move it to the “Program Files” folder and keep it safe there. If you run it and move the app later, you have to redo the settings one more time.
After you open the app, it will quietly reside in the taskbar on the bottom right of the screen and you can use it as is. However, there are several adjustments that you can do to have a better two finger scrolling experience.

Right-click the hand icon on the taskbar and choose “Settings” from the pop-up menu. This menu is also the place that you have to go to deactivate two finger scrolling without closing the app.

The first is the General setting. Check the “Start with Windows” box to make sure that the feature is always available after every system restart. I personally think that this option is important because to me using Windows comfortably is equal with a constant system restart at least once a day.

The next setting is the Scrolling. Even though there are several options that you can choose, I didn’t notice any significant differences between different combinations. Checking and unchecking the “Acceleration” box did not change anything either. The one that really determines user experience is the speed. After several trials, I settled with the minimum speed (the speed mark is far to the left).

To know more about the differences between “Scroll mode” options, click the “Help” link under the options. The developer also promises a circular scroll type for future versions.
The last setting is the Tapping. You can activate two finger and three finger tapping. All you have to do is choose which mouse button click to imitate when you do those tapping. The available choices are: left button, middle button, right button, button 4 and button 5.
I couldn’t find out what “One + one finger” and “Two + one finger” means, and experimenting on different taps didn’t give me any results either. So I disabled those two and went with “Two fingers” and “Three fingers” instead. I also left the “Minimal finger movement distance” setting alone.

Two Scroll Or Not Two Scroll

Compared to the common trackpad-side scrolling used by most non-Mac laptops, I feel that the two finger scroll is more comfortable. But maybe that’s just me.
After looking at the possibilities, I hope that the developer will make other trackpad gestures – like pinching, swiping and rotating – available in this useful application.

. Umm Sharik reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (Salallaho alayhay wa sallam) as saying: The people would run away from the Dajjal seeking shelter in the mountains. She said: Where would be the Arabs then in that day? He said: They would be very few. Reference : Saheeh Muslim Book 041, Number 7035 ‏حدثني ‏ ‏هارون بن عبد الله ‏ ‏حدثنا ‏ ‏حجاج بن محمد ‏ ‏قال قال ‏ ‏ابن جريج ‏ ‏حدثني ‏ ‏أبو الزبير ‏ ‏أنه سمع ‏ ‏جابر بن عبد الله ‏ ‏يقول أخبرتني ‏ ‏أم شريك ‏ ‏أنها سمعت النبي ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏يقول ‏ ‏ليفرن الناس من ‏ ‏الدجال ‏ ‏في الجبال قالت ‏ ‏أم شريك ‏ ‏يا رسول الله فأين ‏ ‏العرب ‏يومئذ قال هم قليل صحيح مسلم When Umm e Shuraik asked " Where would be the Arabs on that day?" that means that Why the Arabs wont fight Dajjal" Now if the Arabs are Very few to fight Dajjal (the Jewish King) then which Nation among Muslims will make the Majority of the Army of Mahdi Now let us take Help of Quran and Hadith to search for that luck armyQuran tells us about the two divsions among the Progeny of Prophet Isaaq (alayhay salam) سُوۡرَةُ الصَّافات
وَبَـٰرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسۡحَـٰقَ‌ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحۡسِنٌ۬ وَظَالِمٌ۬ لِّنَفۡسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ۬ (١١٣)اور ہم نے ان پر اور اسحاق پر برکتیں نازل کی تھیں۔ اور ان دونوں کی اولاد میں سے نیکوکار بھی ہیں اور اپنے آپ پر صریح ظلم کرنے والے (یعنی گنہگار) بھی ہیں (۱۱۳)We blessed him and Ishâq (Isaac), and of their progeny are (some) that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves. (37:113) سورة الاٴعرَافوَقَطَّعۡنَـٰهُمۡ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أُمَمً۬ا‌ۖ مِّنۡهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ وَمِنۡہُمۡ دُونَ ذَٲلِكَ‌ۖ١٦٨اورہم نے انہیں ملک میں مختلف جماعتوں میں متفرق کر دیا بعضے ان میں سے نیک ہیں اور بعضے اور طرح کے١٦٨ And we divided them on earth in different tribes. Some of them are PIOUS (Muslims) and some are from the others(NON MUSLIMS) (128 Surah Al Araaf)This clearly shows that family of Prophet Isaaq (alayhay salam) or the Family of His Son Prophet Israel is divided in two groups both in his life and afterwards (since Quran is for all times till the end of time and not only for the time of Prophet Isaaq(alayhay salam)).1-Mulim Bani Ishaq or Bani Israel (Bani Israel also means Bani Ishaq since Isaaq is father of Israel)2-Non Muslim Bani Ishaq (i.e the Jews which make only 2 out of 12 tribes of Bani Isreal / Isaaq)Now Hadith tells about the Same mentioned Muslim Bani Ishaq in Saheeh Muslim about their fight against Dajall's armyDear Prophet Muhammad (salallaho alayhay wa alay he sallam)clearly described an Army of Muslims having large number of Muslims i.e 70 thousand men(in Ahadith the word 70 refers to a large majority) from Bani Isaaq that will stand against Dajjal (Exact words in Saheeh Muslim also written below).Authentic ahadith further tells that this Army will come from the East & that Imam Mahdi will be wearing clothes like Bani Israel (Bani Isaaq)"..................He would be wearing two Qutwani Cloaks.He will appear exactly as the person from Bani Israeel.He will rule for 20 years and will conquer the cities of the Mushrikeen(Idolaters) (Ref: Kanz-ul-Aamal, Page 268, Hadith No 3868).When you hear the news of Black Flags coming from the East, then, you must join them even if you have to crawl over ice(to reach them) ( Hadith Ref : Saheeh Trimdi)We see that even the clothes of Imam Mahdi are like that of Muslim Bani Isaaq showing clearly that Imam Mahdi will be living among them. Adbullah bin Haris (R.A) reported that Dear Propet(salallaho alayhay wa sallam) said, InSome people will come out from the EAST who will make Caliphate(Islamic rule) easy for Imam Mahdi.*1 *1*Reference Ibn-e-Majah 4088
The following authentic Ahadith proves that 1)the Arabs will Attack the Army of Mahdi coming from the East,2)the Arabs will be the first to attack Imam Mahdi in the Holy Mosque (Baitul Haram),3)the Aarabs will not help the Army of Mahdi from the East and therefore Army of Mahdi will fight witht the Arabs.2. Thawban (R.A) reported that Dear Propet(salallaho alayhay wa sallam) said, “ In your old age three men will be killed . Each of them will be the son of a Khalifah. Then the black banners will come out of the east, *1 and they will slaughter you in a way that no Nation has ever done before.Then Dear Prophet(salallaho alayhay wa alay he sallam) said soemthing that I didn’t remember.Then again Dear Prophet(salallaho alayhay wa alay he sallam) said if you see him give him your allegiance, even if you have to crawl over ice, because he is the Khalifah of Allah, the Mahdi.*2 2 Reference Ibne Majah Page 300, Also in Ahmad's Musnad, al-Haakim's Mustadrak and others.).
The following hadith number 2 further explains why the army with BLACK FLAGS FROM THE EAST will Kill the Arabs. It tells us that the custodians of the Holy Mosques will attack them first and stop them from entering the holy Mosques. Also mentioned in Quran at 2:1143. Narrated by Hazrat Abu Huraira(radi Allah Anho) from Hazrat Abu Qatada:Dear Prophet (Salallaho alayahy wa sallam) said: People will be given allegiance (Beyat) to person (i.e Mahdi) between the Ruken(Hajr-e-Aswad) and Mukam(Mukam-e-Ebraheem) and no one else but the same people who are related to that place(citizens of Makkah) will destroy the respect of Kabah(as they will attack Mahdi in Kabah where fighting is forbidden) and when they will declare it Halal then do not ask about the killing of the ARABS(there will be a mass killing of arabs).Then Ethopians(Africans) will come and they will desolate it in such a way that it would never be a habitat and these will be the people who will take out its treasure.*3 *3 Refernce :Masnad Imam Ahmad 35/15. Also Mustadrik J5 Page 456.
4. Narrated by Hazrat Abdullah Bin Masood(raddi Allah anho) that Dear Propher (salallaho alayhay wa sallam) said: A Nation will come from the East with Black Flags and they will ask for some “Khair” (because of them being needy) but the people will not give them,then,they will fight and win over those people(who didn’t give them what they asked).Now the people will give them what they asked for but they will not accept it untill they will hand it over to a person from my progeny who will fill this earth with Justice just as it was previoulsy filled with opression and tyranny .So if anyone of you find this Nation( i. e from the East with black flags) then you must joing them even if you have to crawl over ice.*4*4 Reference Al-Asha-ah الآﺸﺍﻋﺔ Page 240.
5. Dear Prophet(Salallaho alayhay wa alay he wa sallam) said that from the East once the Childern of Abbas will come out with black flags and will stay as long Allah subhanahu wa ta-ala wills and then small black flags will appear who will fight with the off spring of Abu Sufyan and their partners and they will obey (Imam )Mahdi Reference: Al-Hawi 69/2 6-Narrated by Thoban(radi Allah Anho) that Dear Prophet(Salallaho alayhay wa sallam) said that “Three people will fight for your Treasure. These three people will be the sons of a Caliph(a King), even then they will not get the Treasure. Then Black Flags will appear from the East and they will fight so fiercely with you as no other Nation fought with you before ( Narrator Sayyidna Thoban says) then Dear Prophet Muhammad(Salallaho alayhay wa alay he wa sallam) said something which I forgot…..In Authentic Hadith from Ibn-e-Majah these words are told as “Then the Caliph of Allah i.e Imam Mahdi will appear when you see him then pledge Allegiance to him even though you had to crawl over ice to make Allegiance with him. No doubt he is the Caliph of Allah, the Mahdi. (Reference: Mustadrik j4 P 463)
7-Narrated by Thoban(radi Allah Anho) that Dear Prophet Muhammad (Salallaho alayhay wa alay he wa sallam) (May blessing and peace from Allah be upon him) said that:" Black Flags will appear from the direction of the East and they will wage such terrible war with you as no nation has ever fought with you before. When you see them then give allegiance even if yuo have to crawl over ice to give allegiance to them because the Caliph of Allah , Mahdi is among them (Al-Asha-ah page 240)
References / Notes*1 This East is different from the NEJD and IRAQ as mentioned in other ahadith(written in the end here) telling that every Fitna (affliction) will appear from NEJD (and also in some ahadith Iraq is mentioned).
PROOF OF 2ND SIGNوَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ الْحُسْنَىٰ عَلَىٰ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ بِمَا صَبَرُوا ‌٧-١٣٧ and the good word of your Lord was fulfilled in the children of Israel because they bore up (sufferings) patiently(137-7)MAHDI’S FORCES WILL CONSIST MAJORITY OF THE BANI-ISHAQ or BANI ISRAEL AMONG THE MUSLIM (Also only they will fight the final war with the Christians i.e The Armageddon)Allah Subhanahu Ta Ala Promised Bani Israel, before to become the inheritors of the Lands of the West and in the East. Once again this promise will be fulfilled and Bani Israel Prophet Eisa ( JESUS ) Alayhay Salam will lead Bani Israel and conquer the world insha Allahسورة الاٴعرَافوَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ الْحُسْنَىٰ عَلَىٰ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ بِمَا صَبَرُوا ‌٧-١٣٧ and the good word of your Lord was fulfilled in the children of Israel because they bore up (sufferings) patiently(137-7)اور بنی اسرائیل کے بارے میں ان کے صبر کی وجہ سے تمہارے پروردگار کا وعدہٴ نیک پورا ہواAhadith written below further proves this
6. Abu Huraira reported Allah's Apostle (may peace he upon him) saying: You have heard about a city the one side of which is in the land and the other is in the sea (Constantinople). They said: Allall's Messenger, yes. Therer upon he said: The Last Hour would not come unlesss seventy thousand[1] persons from Bani lshaq would attack it. When they would land there, they will neither fight with weapons nor would shower arrows but would only say:" There is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest," that one side of it would fall. Thaur (one of the narrators) said: I think that he said: The part by the side of the ocean. Then they would say for the second time:" There is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest" that the second side would also fall, and they would say:" There is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest," that the gates would be opened for them and they would enter therein and, they would be collecting spoils of war and distributing them amongst themselves that a noise would be heard and It would be said: Verily, Dajjal has come. And thus they would leave everything there and would turn to him.* Reference Book 041, Number 6979: Saheh Muslim Note1: 70 thousand means a very large number and not 70 k exactly V Imp ONLY THE BANI ISHAAK اسحاق‎ ( CHILDERN OF PROPHET ISAAC) WILL BE LEFT IN THE END TO FIGHT DAJJALIn the above hadith 70 thousand men from Bani Ishaak are told to conquer Constantinople, now the following hadith further tells that only the Bani Ishaak is left remaining from the army of Mahdi and only Bani Ishaak will fight Dajjal along with Mahdi and Prophet Eisa (alayhay salam)1-Abu Hurayrah said,"The Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa alay he wa sallam) said, 'The Hour will not come until the Romans camp at al-A'mash or Dabeeq. An army,composed of the best people on earth at that time, will come out fromMadinah to meet them. When they have arranged themselves in ranks,the Romans will say, 'Do not stand between us and those who tookprisoners from amongst us. Let us fight with them.' The Muslims will say,'No, by Allaah, we will never stand aside from you and our brothers.'Then they will fight. One-third will runaway, and Allaah will never forgivethem. One-third will be killed, and they will be the best of martyrs inAllaah's sight. One-third, who will never be subjected to trials ortribulations, will win, and will conquer Constantinople. Whilst they aresharing out the booty, after hanging their swords on the olive-trees, Satanwill shout to them that the Dajjaal has taken their place among theirfamilies. When they come to Syria, the Dajjaal will appear, while they arepreparing for battle and drawing up the ranks. When the time for prayercomes, Jesus the son of Mary will descend and lead them in prayer.When the enemy of Allaah (i.e. the Dajjaal) sees him, he will start todissolve like salt in water, but Allaah will kill him.' " Reference: Saheeh Muslim, Kitaab al-Fitan, 8 - 175, 176.

And also the following hadith2-Yusair b. Jabir reported: Once there blew a red storm in Kufah that there came a person who had nothing to say but (these words): Abdullah b. Mas'ud, the Last Hour has come. He ('Abdullah b. Mas'ud) was sitting reclining against something, and he said: The Last Hour would not come until the people divide in- heritance and rejoice over booty, and then said pointing towards Syria, with the gesture of his hand like this: The enemy shall muster strength against Muslims and the Muslims will muster strength against them (Syrians). I said: You mean Rome? And he said: Yes, and there would be a terrible fight and the Muslims would prepare a detachment (for fighting unto death) which would not return but victorious. They will fight until night will intervene them; both the sides will return without being victorious and both will be wiped out. The Muslims will again prepare a detachment for fighting unto death so that they may not return but victorious. When it would be the fourth day, a new detachment out of the remnant of the Muslims would be prepared and Allah will decree that the enemy should be routed. And they would fight such a fight the like of which would not be seen, so much so that even if a bird were to pass their flanks, it would fall down dead before reaching the end of them. (There would be such a largescale massacre) that when counting would be done, (only) one out of a hundred men related to one another would be found alive. So what can be the joy at the spoils of such war and what inheritance would be divided! They would be in this very state that they would hear of a calamity more horrible than this. And a cry would reach them: The Dajjil has taken your place among your off- spring. They will, therefore, throw away what would be in their hands and go forward sending ten horsemen, as a scouting party. Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: I know their names and the names of their forefathers and the colour of their horses. They will be best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day or amongst the best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day.Saheeh Muslim Book 041, Number 6927:

5- Hazrat Abu Qutada(R.A) narrated a long Hadith from Dear Prophet(salallaho alayhay wa sallam) where Umm Sharik said: Where would be the Arabs then in that day?(Meaning why the Arabs wont come forward and fight for Islam ). He(salallaho alayhay wa sallam) said: They would be small in number? And from that remaning Arabs,most of them will be in Bait-ul-Muqaddas (Sham) and their leader will be a pious man (Mahdi).When their leader will move forward to lead the Morning prayers,then,Hazrat Eisa(Alayhay salam) will descend from the sky.The leader will step back so that Hazrat Eisa(Alayhay salam) will lead the prayers but Hazrat Eisa(Alayhay salam) will put his hand on his back between his shoulders and say Move forward and lead the prayers because the Aqamah was called for you.Then the Imam will lead the prayers to all people. (Reference : Sunan Abi Majah ,307,308) IN SHORT ALL THE ABOVE MENTIONED AHADITH ARE CO RELATED SO WE NOW WE CAN WRITE THE CHAIN OF EVENTS AS BELOW: a : Muslims will fight with the Romans (Europeans or Christians) will threaten Muslim's Army to leave the war and joing them and a fight will start where only 1/3rd of the Muslim armies will be left after victory.b : The above 1/3rd victorious army will come to Sham where Prophet Jesus (Hazrat Eisa Alayhay salam) will join them.c: In sham with this 1/3rd army there will be also a Small Number of Arabs or Bani Ismael.d: A large number of army from these Muslims belonging to the Bani Ishaq will conquer Constantinople (base of Christians). After they conquer it Dajjal (Anti Christ) will come.Note : Please note that the word 70 thousand is used for the BANI ISAAQ and 70 always means a large number in Ahadith. We should note that the Arabs are told to be in a SMALL NUMBER so this number 70 thousand cannot point towards the Arabs

1- In the first hadith Note:* It strange that some people explained this hadith by saying that the word BANI ISHAQ (Childern of Ishaq) means BANI ISMAEL (Childern of Ismael). The word Bani Ismael is never ever in any of the original copies of SAHEEH MUSLIM book. * Also it can never mean Bani Ismael since the BANI ISMAEL is not living in the EAST of Arabian Peninsula as the Above 6 Authentic Ahadith tells that Mahdi's army will come from the East.* Also it can never mean Bani Ismael since the word 70 thousand stands for a LARGE NUMBER and the hadith of Saheeh Muslim tells that the ARABS WILL BE VERY LESS at that time .This hadith is given below again.Umm Sharik reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (Salallaho alayhay wa sallam) as saying: The people would run away from the Dajjal seeking shelter in the mountains. Reference : Saheeh Muslim Book 041, Number 7035‏حدثني ‏ ‏هارون بن عبد الله ‏ ‏حدثنا ‏ ‏حجاج بن محمد ‏ ‏قال قال ‏ ‏ابن جريج ‏ ‏حدثني ‏ ‏أبو الزبير ‏ ‏أنه سمع ‏ ‏جابر بن عبد الله ‏ ‏يقول أخبرتني ‏ ‏أم شريك ‏ ‏أنها سمعت النبي ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏يقول ‏ ‏ليفرن الناس من ‏ ‏الدجال ‏ ‏في الجبال قالت ‏ ‏أم شريك ‏ ‏يا رسول الله فأين ‏ ‏العرب ‏يومئذ قال هم قليل صحيح مسلم* Also some people said that the BANI ISHAQ word here meant the ROMANS. This is also meaningless since the Above 6 Authentic Ahadith tells that the Army of Mahdi will come from the EAST but the Romans live in the WestWRONG INTERPRETATION OF THE ABOVE HADITH OF SAHEEH MUSLIM ABOUT BANI ISHAQ There are three baseless explanation of the above hadith about Childern of Prophet Ishaq. I shall explain one by one.Baseless explanation No1Some people say that the word Bani Ishaq refers to the ROMANS who are actually desendants of the so called 2nd son of Prophet Ishaq i.e ESU or ISU .This baseless because of the following factsProphet Ishaq had only one son i.e Propet Israel (Yaqoob) according to Quran and HadithAccording to Quran and Hadith Prophet Ishaq had only one son i.e Prophet Yaqoob (Israel) peace be upon them. Its only in the books of jews i.e the Torah which tells that Prophet Ishaq had another son by the name of ISU and this ISU is claimed to be the ancestor of the ROMANS.This is totally baseless since the Islamic world first came to know about this theory in 1030 AD in a book compile by Abu Rifa'a al Fasawl .In this book the claim is told by Al-Tha'labi. Mr Al-Tha'labi is totally depending only and only on the IBN ISHAQ narrator who is the most un trustworthy and weak narraotor and whose works are mostly rejected because of fabricated ahadith. Infact IBN ISHAQ is the only narrater who has said that Prophet Ishaq (alayhay salam) had a son called ISU or ESU and that ROMANS are the desendants of ESU .
